Old Marylebone Town Hall weddings - photo ops galore

January 30, 2026

As a London wedding photographer with lots of experience shooting at the Old Marylebone Town Hall, I’ve spent countless hours in its rooms, corridors and around its steps. I know this iconic London venue inside out, and I know how to create beautiful wedding photos there, whatever the light throws at us.

Why Old Marylebone Town Hall is special for wedding photography

Old Marylebone Town Hall is a favourite for London civil weddings because it has a mix of grand architecture, classic interiors and a brilliant location in central London. For couples wanting elegant, timeless photos in a city setting, it’s hard to beat.

Inside the building: mastering the light

One of the rooms people most often book is the Westminster Room. It’s a grand and stunning space, full of character and history. The high ceilings and period details create a dramatic backdrop for your ceremony and portraits.

But here’s something every wedding photographer learns quickly: the Westminster Room rarely gets direct sunlight. Even on the brightest days it stays relatively dark, because the windows don’t catch strong light. That can be tricky, especially during key moments like your vows and first kiss, or when you’re standing in front of the big window. In those moments you’re often beautifully framed by the architecture, but the light is coming from behind you, which can lead to couple backlit by the window.

I’ve shot dozens of weddings at Old Marylebone Town Hall, including hundreds of moments in the Westminster Room, so I know exactly how to work with its light. I use a mix of natural light and subtle off-camera flash when needed, I position couples to make the most of available light, and I’m ready to adjust on the fly so you get flattering, timeless photos—no blown-out windows or deep shadows.

Other rooms and their light

Old Marylebone Town Hall has a number of other spaces, each with its own character and light. I pay attention to where the best light is in each room, and I know the little tricks that help make portraits look great without feeling posed. Whether it’s the ceremony room, signing room or a quieter corner for a few intimate portraits, I’ve shot weddings in every corner of this venue.

Outside Old Marylebone Town Hall: architecture and atmosphere

Once we step outside the building there are great photo opportunities right on the doorstep.

  • The grand pillars and steps at the front of the Town Hall are perfect for classic, architectural portraits of you as a couple. They give a sense of place and scale, and always look striking in photos.

  • Just behind the Town Hall you’ll find cobbled mews streets, which are a favourite location for relaxed, editorial-style portraits. The texture of the cobbles, the soft walls and the London character make images feel timeless and a little more playful.

  • When time allows and couples want to make time for it, we can also head to Regent’s Park for more photos. The park is just minutes away and gives a beautiful contrast to the urban backdrop with open green spaces, gardens and classic London park atmosphere.

Experience makes a difference

Because I’ve photographed so many weddings at Old Marylebone Town Hall, I know how to plan your photography timeline so we don’t feel rushed. I know where the light will be at different times of day, I know which spots make the best backdrops for portraits, and I know how to help you relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera.

If you’re planning a wedding at Old Marylebone Town Hall and want a photographer who’s genuinely experienced with this venue, get in touch. I love photographing weddings there, and I’d be excited to talk about your plans and how we can capture your day in a way that feels true to you.
