If you’re searching for a London wedding photographer because you want natural, unposed photos — you’re in the right place.
Most of what I do on a wedding day is exactly that: observational, documentary-style photography that captures real moments as they unfold. I stay in the background, I don’t interrupt, and I don’t direct. The result? Honest, emotional images that actually feel like your wedding — not a photoshoot.
But here's the thing. During your couple portrait session, I do sometimes give you a bit of gentle posing guidance. And I promise — you’ll thank me for it later.
“We don’t want to pose for photos…”
Almost every couple who books me says the same thing:
“We don’t want to do loads of awkward posed shots.”
I hear you. And I agree — forced poses and cringy smiles aren’t my thing either.
But the truth is, when there’s a camera pointed at you, it’s totally normal to feel a bit unsure of what to do with your hands, where to look, or how close to stand. That’s where I come in — with a little help, not heavy direction.
Gentle guidance that helps you feel comfortable
During the couple portrait session, I might suggest things like:
A way for you to stand that flatters you both
How to hold each other in a way that looks natural
A spot with better light or background
Something small and silly to get you laughing
These aren’t stiff poses. Think of it more like a nudge in the right direction. You’ll never be asked to do anything cheesy or uncomfortable — and if I do suggest something that’s not your vibe, you can just say “Nah, not for us.”
And that’s completely fine.
“That was actually fun!”
Most couples come out of the portrait session surprised and say “That wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be!” I’ll take that.
Some even enjoy it! It’s a quiet moment for the two of you to catch your breath, away from the crowd — and it results in a few relaxed, beautiful shots of just the two of you.
So yes — most of your day is unposed
From getting ready to the dancefloor, I’m capturing your day exactly as it happens. The portrait session is just a small part of the day, and even then, it’s still very natural, relaxed and low-key.
Let me gently guide you through it, and you’ll come away with a few timeless portraits that you’ll actually want to frame — no fake smiles required.
